Last Thursday I was starting to feel better so my mom and I decided to go for a walk. When we got home we were sitting on the front porch when an attorney neighbor came home for lunch, saw me, and asked if I wanted a summer job at his firm. I said yes and he said to come by his office that afternoon for an interview. After the interview he asked if I'd stay and start working right then. I did! He put me in a nice office and I started working on a project he gave me.
The next morning I went to work and sat at my mahogany desk. Within the next hour another intern, who is a 3L (term for 3rd year law student), came in and informed me I was at HER desk and needed to move. She pointed in the direction of the room I needed to go. She then went to talk to another intern who is also a 3L. So I grabbed my folders and headed in the direction pointed. She had pointed to the file room. I thought she was kidding and had surely just "punked" me. So I went back to the fancy office. She came back in and said I was going to have to move. I told her she would have to show me where she wanted me to go, because where she pointed was the file room. She said that's where I had to go. Sad. I now have a dusty little desk in the file room. The attorney I am working for was gone, but when he came in I told him that if he was looking for me, to look in the file room because I had been bumped. I thought he would say something like, oh no- I meant for you to have the fancy office because you are so much cuter than that that 3L. But alas, he didn't. He just chuckled and said I guess that's what they do to the junior-junior intern. Yesterday the job kinda stunk- I am sure it had to do with being bumped to the file room, but today was much better. I finished a little project I was working on and seemed to get positive feedback.
On another positive note- I made Law Review! My grades do not put me at the top of my class, but I decided to at least try to make Law Review through the Write-On Competition. To my surprise, I made it. I have no clue what LR is about, but I am excited about it. Here is a picture of the 1970 UND Law Review board members.

During the night I had major chills- woke up with my whole body shaking and my sheets completely wet from sweat (no- I didn't wet the bed!) I changed pj's at 2:30 am and had another shaking episode at 4 am. When I woke up at 9 am, I felt much worse than Monday. My head, neck, jaw, and lower back hurt, and I could not swallow my throat was so sore. I also had a temperature of 101. So back to the doctor I went. The doctor said that if I were any other patient she would order another blood test, but after yesterday's vomit episode I got a pass. She changed my antibiotic to a Z-Pack and gave me something to gargle for my throat. I am feeling much better. I still get light headed, but at least I can function. The throat stuff numbs my mouth and throat, so I tend to drool a bit, but I'll take it. I heart the Z-Pack.Tomorrow I have a dermatologist appointment. I am hoping to figure out this milia thing under my eyes. I haven't used my eye cream since March and the bumps are still there. Also, I think I have way too many wrinkles for a 27 year old, so I want to discuss this. Additionally, I want to have some moles looked at and a skin tag on my waist removed. Now, don't I sound lovely!

I made it all winter without getting a sniffle, but now that it's June I am coming down with something nasty. It started with an inflamed lymph node on Friday and by Sunday I slept about 19 hours and developed the worst sore throat. I went to class this morning and then went to the doctor and had blood drawn. I told the nurse that I was no good at shots, but I failed to tell her I usually pass out when blood is drawn. Anyways, I threw up on the floor. Ick. Ends up I have a bacterial infection. I wash my hands after I go to the bathroom and most times before I eat, but got this somehow. Uhg. I have class tonight and this prof (who is actually a practicing attorney) gives extra credit if you have perfect attendance. I have got to find some energy to go to class.
PS, its 50 degrees and raining here. Where is summer?
North Dakota does not know what summer is. For example, today I washed my mom's car with a sweatshirt on because it was only 65 degrees. Nevertheless, this is summer, North Dakota style. And summer means bike riding!

I have been riding my bike to school at least once a week. The Times fashion section ran an article about commuting via bicycle in NYC. The author thinks that if we can make bicycling elegant, we can increase the number of two-wheeled commuters. I think this is great because when I do bike to school, I forgo looking good that day. For starters, my helmet leaves to imprints on my forehead- think forceps.
My bikes pedals are clipless, so unless I bring an extra pair of shoes (I usually don't have room with giant law books and a computer in my bag), I am stuck wearing my cycling shoes.
I also have to wear either shorts or capris so that my pant leg doesn't get stuck in my bike chain. But I cannot complain much. It is great to smell the fresh morning air and I always feel good about life after riding my bike. I wish everyone could commute to work / school on their bicycle.
