CVL started his new job in Winona, MN on Monday. The plan is that he will work one year as the general manager for CoPOS, a small tech company that develops, sells, and services a point-of-sale system for food co-ops and cafes. After a year he will have an option to buy the company.
For the month of January, CVL is living in an apartment that the founder/owner of CoPOS owns. He is looking at homes for rent/purchase. The economic downturn hit Winona and Minnesota in general fairly badly, so the housing market is good for buyers. Winona is in south-eastern Minnesota on the Mississippi River, two hours south of Minneapolis and eight hours from Grand Forks. Wisconsin is on the other side of the river. There are lots of old milk delivery roads for biking and large limestone cliffs for rock climbing. There is also a small downhill ski area. I am excited about all the outdoor opportunities and being closer to a city.
I am in the process of finding a job down there. I sent a handful of resumes and cover letters out before Christmas and called those places this week to set up a time to introduce myself. This is my last week of vacation before school starts, so I will go to Winona on Friday to meet with these firms. I hope I make a good impression and that they need a lawyer come August!
