blogging my way through this smoggy world

Thanksgiving in North Carolina

I left Jane and Caylan early Thursday morning to fly to NC for Thanksgiving. My parents flew in from ND. Amy and Jacob went to Chicago to spend the holiday with Amy's parents.

We spent Thanksgiving day in Raleigh with my mom's side of the family. Of course, the food was to die for. Since I am under 40, I ate at the children's table. Thankfully, there were no kids under 20.

Here is my mom with her two sisters, Catherine and Susan, and Granny.

After dinner we drove an hour east to my hometown, Clinton. We spent a lot of time hanging out with my grandmothers and Faircloth aunts and uncles. On Friday we had another turkey with Memommy, my 92 year old paternal grandmother, and Lucy (cousin), Will (cousin), Mary Holt (aunt), Sam (uncle), Ben (uncle), and Edward (uncle).

Granny spent the day volunteering at the church, but came by afterward to check on us.

On Saturday, Granny cooked for the Faircloths. She claims that she cooked the most fish that she ever has. My dad and his brothers love her fried fish, fried cornbread, and lemon pie!

The next morning we went to church, where Granny sings in the choir.

After church we went to the country club for lunch with more family.

Sunday night we drove to Cary to have dinner and spend the night at my aunt Susan's and uncle Bill's house. Our flights out of NC were at 6 am, so we were up before the crack of dawn to get to the airport.
