Caylan's sister got married last weekend. His sister (Scarlett) and her husband (Eric) met at the Minnesota College of Art and Design and now live in Brooklyn. Eric is a graphic artist for films and recently got credits in the Bourne Legacy and Moonrise Kingdom. When you watch these movies, whenever there are billboards, shop signs, magazine covers, etc. - you can bet Eric worked on it. He even superimposed Sarah Jessica Parker into his parents' wedding photo in I Don't Know How She Does It. Scarlett is just as brilliant. Her medium is weaving and tapestry, with a little bit of oil painting. She nannied for a while, but now teaches weaving. I am told that blonde nannies from Minnesota are a hot commodity in NY.

The festivities were in Wisconsin near a lake where her grandparents had a cabin. Caylan was the best man. Eric and Scarlett designed and made everything for the wedding - the logo, the invitations, the decorations, the favors (individually wrapped caramel apples).


The wedding was outside under a gazebo; the reception indoors. I can't remember the names of the songs, but they walked down to alternative rock songs. I read a passage from A Gift from the Sea by Ann Morrow Lindbergh. It was very Scarlett since it had to do with love being many bonds of different strengths and textures woven together. The family she nannied for in NY flew in from Brooklyn. The two children walked Zora, Eric and Scarlett's Chihuahua down the aisle. A family that she nannied for in Minneapolis came too and were the flower girl and ring bearer. Scarlett wore her mother's dress (that did not need to be altered to fit) and she added a collar using lace from her grandmother's dress.

At the reception they served popcorn as an hour dourves. Popcorn is a big part of Larson family events because when Caylan's great grandparents came over from Sweden they bought a popcorn distribution business. The business got eventually passed down to Caylan's dad. Caylan and Scarlett spent a good part of their childhood peddling popcorn at the MN State Fair. I like to call Caylan "4G" since he is a fourth generation popcorn maker.
