My hiatus is over! Summer school finals, a national legal ethics test, and an end of the summer vacation got in the way of my blogging. Here's a synopsis of my traveling:
Jack and I flew to NC and met Jacob, who flew in from Denver, to visit my grandmothers. While in NC, in addition to Chick-fil-A, Jack got to experience my Granny's southern cooking like homemade fried chicken, fried cornbread, collards, okra, corn, lemon meringue pie, fried shrimp and fish, and of course, NC barbecue. She is without a doubt the best cook in the world. We also visited a family farm called the Wright Place and saw the newly restored house that my grandfather was brought up in. (Jacob has these pictures, so there is no telling when I'll get to share them with you). Going to church is a must in small southern towns, so we did that, too. We made a day trip to Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington with my grandmothers. Memommy, my 90 year old paternal grandmother is a princess- her beach attire consisted of one and a half inch heels, slacks, a brown sweater, and a costume-like gold necklace. After the beach, we drove through old Wilmington and took an old country road back to Clinton. We even stopped and bought boiled peanuts on the side of the road. After church on Sunday we drove to Raleigh and had dinner with my mom's sisters and their families. They had us laughing uncontrollably as usual.
Jack and I then flew to New York to meet his mother, Mary, for a week of in the city. We literally saw everything in Manhatten except for Harlem.

- After being coached how to get the good stuff at good prices from my mom's sister we bravely headed to Canal Street in Chinatown. We went in locked attics and basements, and felt like we were buying drugs, but came away with two Rolexes, a Fendi, a Gucci, a Coach, and Rayban sunglasses.
- We thoroughly enjoyed Wicked on Broadway. My only complaint was that I did not come out singing all the songs.
- We highly recommend walking the Highline.
- Chelsea was our favorite section of town.
- The people in NY were friendly and whenever I pulled out my map, within a few seconds someone asked if I needed directions.
- The barista at the Starbucks where we got our breakfast and morning caffeine had memorized our order by the third day.
- I am sure there were lots of great buys in Century 21, but it was too chaotic for me.
- We did not have any reservations for dinner, but every place we ate was fantastic.
- We were going to visit the Statue of Liberty, but after taking a wrong subway into Brooklyn, and seeing our lady in a distance, we figured we didn't need to see her again.
- There are no restaurants to by found near the Metropolitan Museum.
- We can't wait to visit the city again!
