blogging my way through this smoggy world

Faircloth Family Christmas Vacation

We had a great time in Colorado. We left a day early because a big blizzard was blowing in. At times we were driving 30 mph, but we made it safely. Here are a few memories:

  • Dad driving 17 hours straight because Mom and I refused to drive in the snow.
  • Knowing how Mary and Joseph felt when Jacob said his apartment was too small and that we needed to get a hotel room.
  • People we don't know hugging us at the evangelical church we went to on Christmas eve.
  • Getting frostbitten on the tip of my nose and my left cheek because the windchill on Christmas day was -43 degrees.
  • Mom proclaiming she "felt like Oprah Winfrey" to describe how stuffed she felt after Christmas dinner.
  • Waiting two hours, outside, in the cold, for a mediocre crepe.
  • Getting to the front of the crepe line and learning that the line is not long because the crepes are good, but because there is only one crepe pan and the crepe maker is taking periodic shots of whiskey.
  • Baylor climbing friend, Ryan, joined for dinner one night.
  • Our bus driver, Wells, who had a deep southern twang because he was from the Piedmont of North Carolina. He had lots of interesting tidbits to tell us like "This won't be the first line you wait in today, folks."
  • Seeing what special dessert Mom purchased from her daily trip to Safeway.
  • Have a great time together.
Here is a link to the pictures. Sadly, there are no pictures of Mother Dearest. She doesn't get close to a ski slope.

And here are some videos. The video recorder doesn't lie- I do not ski as smooth or as fast as I feel.

First, my favorite:

Now pathetic me:

I would not use the term "pathetic" in your tackling the moguels. You looked quite graceful. I would have slid down the hill on my butt. haha!
